I decided to try silica instead of cotton and it seems to work well. It will produce fragments when it is dry so be careful not to breathe them in or get them in your eyes. It absorbs the PGVG quite well.

I found the silica wick to provide better flavor than using I organic cotton. It was fairly easy to rebuild my kanger tech coils with also.Will definitely buy more very soon!
